Canva is a versatile design tool that has been widely adopted by individuals and businesses for various use cases. Users have found Canva helpful in creating social media graphics, resumes, infographics, eBooks, and more. The platform offers limitless built-in templates and media options, making it easy for users to create cohesive and professional external marketing materials.

One of the key use cases of Canva is its ability to help businesses solidify their brand and expand their outreach. Sole proprietors and small businesses use Canva to create images for social media posts, e-mail headers, e-book designs, and PowerPoint slides. It is also used across different departments, including sales, executive offices, and marketing teams, to create content for announcements, event invitations, and community engagement opportunities.

Canva enables businesses to create high-quality designs without outsourcing, reducing costs for lean marketing teams. It is recommended to clients who don't have in-house graphic design capabilities. For example, restaurants use Canva to design menus, event posters, and print marketing materials. Businesses also rely on Canva to create marketing materials such as business Instagram and Facebook posts, logos, banners, and business cards.

Another prominent use case of Canva is in the creation of visual content for ministries and book projects. It allows users to present and promote their content in fun, vibrant, and high-quality visual formats. Canva is used to design blog banners, Amazon A+ banners, web banners, and social media images for book projects.

In addition to these use cases, Canva finds its application in designing ad mockups, graphs, infographics, handouts, flyers, social media visuals, email banners, and more. Its drag-and-drop editor along with various graphics options makes it easy for non-designers within an organization to create innovative presentations or promotional materials.

Overall, Canva's wide range of features and user-friendly interface make it a valuable tool for individuals and businesses alike, helping them create professional-looking designs without the need for extensive design skills or outsourcing.

Users commonly recommend upgrading to the pro option of Canva for social media managers and teams looking to ensure consistent branding across the Internet. Canva Pro is considered a cost-effective alternative to Adobe products, especially for smaller businesses with a lower budget. It is also suggested to try Canva for free to create custom designs and stay on brand. Canva is seen as an ideal tool for basic design work, logo creation, and creating social media graphics and web designs. Users suggest utilizing Canva to quickly generate images for digital campaigns and regain control over branding. Canva is recommended as the ultimate solution for companies without a graphic design department or individuals who want to create images quickly without relying on Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator. For teams and companies that are not design-heavy, Canva Pro is recognized as an inexpensive and user-friendly option. Canva for Work is suggested for centralizing brand guidelines and creating social media posts or graphics. Users recommend accessing the tutorials provided by Canva for learning how to effectively use the platform and advise checking the license agreement for $1.00 stock photos before usage. While Canva cannot replace more advanced design software like Photoshop, it is still considered a valuable tool for those with basic graphic design skills. Lastly, users recommend ensuring that the team knows the appropriate colors and fonts to use and uploading logos in PNG format for easy integration.

I am the main user of Canva in my department, however, I oversee other people that use Canva as well. Canva is only used within the marketing division. Canva allows me to quickly and easily create social media graphics, basic video clips, posters, flyers, and so much more - all without having to open PhotoShop, InDesign, or Illustrator. It also allows me to quickly and easily share designs with others and collaborate on projects.
  • Collaboration - it's easy to share your design with your team members
  • Design library - Canva has a ton of great stock photos, icons, videos, fonts, and patterns all pre-loaded and ready for you to use. Their search function works well to find these materials.
  • Templates - The sky is the limit when it comes to creativity and what you're able to build within Canva, but you don't have to be a graphic designer to use the software. You can easily create slideshows, presentations, flyers, etc - with their templates.
  • Brand kit - upload your logos, colors, fonts, etc so all of your designs are on brand.
  • Sharing and downloading - you can post directly to your social media accounts from Canva or download your materials in a variety of file types
  • The search function for photos needs to be expanded. It would be great to click the "view more like this" button and have it filtered to photos that look exactly like that one. Currently, it'll only take you to more photos by that same photographer, which is the most helpful.
  • Being able to resize elements like shapes would be great. Sometimes I need a specific sized rectangle and it's really hard to find one that's already built.
  • Sometimes things don't completely line up, even if I use the "align" tools.
  • Additional text editing options - adding superscript, additional bullet points, etc
I'll always recommend Canva to basically anyone that needs design software, but doesn't have the time, skillset, or budget for actual design software like the Adobe Suite. The most basic account is free and provides so many options for building content. I can't think of another free software that gives you so much room to grow, build, and design. Canva is appropriate for teams of all sizes. As a graphic designer, I thought I'd prefer to continue creating our social media content in PhotoShop, but Canva is much easier and quicker. Plus, I can copy and resize content so everything is guaranteed to fit the social platform that I'm designing for. In PhotoShop, I'd need to know that information off the top of my head.

Our company uses Canva to address a few key business problems related to content creation. Firstly, Canva provides an accessible and user-friendly platform for our team members who may not have formal design training, allowing them to create visually appealing content quickly and efficiently. Secondly, Canva helps us ensure brand consistency across all our designs by providing access to a library of templates and elements, such as logos and brand colors, that can be easily customized to meet our specific needs. Lastly, Canva allows us to collaborate with team members and stakeholders on design projects in real-time, making it easier to make changes and get feedback. The scope of our use case for Canva is quite broad and encompasses a range of marketing and design projects, from creating social media posts and email marketing campaigns to developing presentations and infographics.
  • prensentation
  • social media posts
  • layer management: Currently, the layer management system in Canva can be confusing for some users, especially for complex designs. Improving the layer management system, for example, by adding the ability to easily hide and show layers, could make the design process smoother for users.
  • typography options: Canva has a good selection of font options, but some users would like to see more advanced typography options, such as kerning, tracking, and baseline shift, which would allow them to achieve more professional-looking designs.
  • More customizable templates: While Canva has a large library of templates, some users would like to see more customization options, such as the ability to create custom templates or save custom elements to reuse in future designs.
Canva is an excellent choice for creating social media graphics. Its user-friendly drag-and-drop interface and a huge selection of templates make it a breeze to create eye-catching posts for platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Whether you're a marketing professional or just starting out, Canva has everything you need to create social media graphics that will get noticed. Canva is also great for presentation With its ability to create slides and add graphics, charts, and infographics, you can create professional-looking presentations with ease. And, with its intuitive design tools, you don't need any design experience to get started. Whether you're creating a presentation for work or school, Canva has got you covered. While Canva is a great tool for creating simple designs and marketing materials, it may not be the best choice for more advanced graphic design projects. If you're a professional designer or need more advanced design tools, software like Illustrator or Photoshop might be a better fit for your needs.

Ours is an organization that helps and guides engineers and even emerging engineers find and pursue their dream. Our company gives out funding and even conducts training programs for students in every level (Novice to experts). This means that we continously require content and Canva is extremely useful when it comes to delivering a message or information the way you want it to sound. It has always helped when I get stuck in the same design again and again. It provides with a wide variety of templates and graphics to choose from without you feeling exhausted by the overwhelming number of content. And that's the best part as it also helps in Time management when it comes to design.
  • It helps you find the right design and helps you start with the right template
  • It helps in creating for all platforms, basically you need to create the design only once and Canva takes care of the rest by resizing the design for whichever platform you want to publish it to.
  • It also comes with a content planner which is extremely helpful for obvious reasons. It relieves you from the hassle of posting when the right time hits.
  • There's a Brand feature which is also extremely fascinating as it helps you store all your brand information (even color) at the same place.
  • Even though the content planner is good, it still could be more user friendly. I bet you'll struggle you way around when you use it for the first time.
  • The mobile app of Canva hogs up resources and does not work properly on a low end Device. It also lacks some features hence the desktop app is recommended for large scale uses.
  • Canva has an overwhelming number of graphics and templates, and most of it are insanely similar to each other. This overuse of design sometimes causes ambiguity in deciding on the best choice for the design.
I would say that Canva is best suited for beginner and Novice level applications. If you're an experienced designer, there's definitely no point in using Canva as it's developed for designers entering the field. OR, if you want to experience that flexibility while you designing and let the creativity flow, You shouldn't consider Canva as your Choice. If you feel like delivering quick and not spend your time on deciding on 'How to Design', then you should go for Canva.

This product is incredibly easy to use and requires very little creativity while also allowing for creativity if present. This program makes creating ads, videos, gifs, infographics, announcements, graphics, and presentations so quick and simple. This program increases your ability to output professional looking communication in a timely manner with or without consultation from other users or your team. The learning time is small and users can start creating nearly immediately with little to no training.

The program is priced extremely well and is accessible to nearly everyone from corporations to small businesses. Additionally, the company is always implementing new features and fixing any small issues or needs of consumers. Canva is always looking to the future and to more integrations with existing software or platforms.

I was especially impressed by their stock video selections and images. These do NOT cost extra like Adobe products but are perfectly acceptable for many applications though Adobe's stock video is often higher production quality. However, Canva's offering are still quite impressive for a presentation, other internal use or a smaller business. Personally, I love Canva and reccomend it to everyone to up their professional output.

  • Social media posts
  • Form creation
  • Presentations
  • Infographics
  • Some physical placement tools are hard to use.
  • Direct to print options are non-existent
  • Sometimes "search" acts a little funny
Canva is great for a presentation or to help you design a landing page and for social media posts. Canva may not be appropriate to design a logo or other material you need to be completely legally sound. Canva is not a graphic maker, it is a layout service/product. If you want to design logos or graphics from scratch, this is not the program for you or your company.

Canva is an excellent online graphic design tool for those who don't have any experience with graphic design. You can design anything like invoices, flyers, invitation cards, and resumes also. Canva has a very wide range of templates that helps a lot if you are not knowledgeable about designing. Both web and mobile apps are working well.
  • Design multi-page documents
  • 8000+ templates in free version
  • Drag and Drop Editor
  • Canva’s learning curve is designed to be very gentle
  • Ease of use
  • Not good for photo editing
  • Inserting a table is not that easy
  • Output formats are limited
  • When you select a template of a particular size, let's say 16:9, you cannot resize this later after you start working on it
In our company, we have an activity every Saturday, and for that, we have to design flyers, vouchers, invitation cards, and greeting cards. For that, we don't have any graphic designers. I have some design experience, and Canva makes it easier to do such things for me. Any of our team members can design this stuff for us with the help of Canva.

This organization is in charge of ensuring that the plans, programs, and policies proposed by the central government are implemented in the territory, and in this case, it was used for the elaboration of a project to mitigate climate change and provide adaptation options to the community, for which infographics and presentations were created with this tool.
  • Creating infographics.
  • Creating presentation.
  • Creating designs for social media.
  • More free vectors.
  • Diversity of free templates.
  • The quality of uploaded images.
Suitable: SchoolUniversityMasterEntry and mid-JobsIn these scenarios the ease of creating designs, presentations, infographics, and the variety of resources it provides make it ideal for working with large teams, it should be noted that it includes a wide variety of fonts, as well as colors. Nonsuitable: Due to the lack of some vectors in the free versions, cant be used in more formal scenarios.

The primary way I use Canva for business is to create engaging content for my social media sites and my marketing clients. I am able to organize my own graphic and use the ones that have an affordable cost. Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram...as well as other design needs. It helps me in that is has many uses such as video creations and forms. I use it for personal projects and for clients.
  • user-friendly tool
  • create great content even if you aren’t a professional designer
  • Template for everything under the sun
  • Text, graphics, and photo options for no additional charge
  • The site is down quite a bit and crashes at times
  • customer support is not great
  • mobile app is difficult to use
  • Organization of creations and files downloaded
I found Canva by accident and learned how to use it early on in its development so worked through the hiccup stage. I see that Canva is constantly improving the platform and I like that. I have had issues where I needed support and it took quite a while to get help with a project deadline haunting me. I find that using Canva for admin stuff such as invoices isn't very effective. I love the platform overall.

We currently use it to assist in the dissemination of all communications we send to employees. It is a very easy-to-use and intuitive tool, in addition to having numerous features. Equipped with several resources, it allows us to make the most important communications and all informative folders. It is certainly one of the most versatile tools we use.
  • Content diversity
  • Ease of use of resources
  • Intuitive tool
  • Good user interface
  • Largest number of free designer creation
  • Export the file in PDF format
  • Difficulty overlapping themes of different sizes
The Canva tool is suitable for creating different designs (newsletters, examples of best practices, results, statements), creating collaborator boards, creating personalized invitations and cards, and is an excellent tool to help with personal creativity. If you are going to use the tool to create something with your own image, you may find it difficult to edit the image as this part of the Canva tool is slightly limited in its free version.

I use Canva to make social media posts, to edit personal photos, and to edit graphics for organizations related to my children's after school activities. Before using Canva I tried using similar Adobe products for graphics and they were way more expensive and not user-friendly. When I discovered Canva it opened up a whole new world of options.
  • Easy to create and edit graphics
  • Would love to be able to edit photos more easily
  • Make it easier to delete a specific area from a graphic or photo
It's perfect for making simple graphics.

We are using Canva for a variety of purposes—social media stories, social media posts, to design fact sheets, reports, and other functions. What I love about Canva is that it gives those of us without design skills templates and a canvas to work with, and therefore levels the playing field. It also allows us to streamline workflow and reserve our designer's time for bigger projects. It's improved our social media presence and created more consistency and brand alignment in all our materials.
  • Designs that meet specs (Instagram image, social banner photos, etc.).
  • Brand consistency: Especially since we saved our colors etc. within the software.
  • Making designers out of those without traditional design skills.
  • It's hard to find images, etc. to use without a Pro account—you can't sort by the free images. We ended up purchasing the Pro account because we needed access to additional features.
  • The designs are basic. It still helps to have a creative eye so that you can differentiate your products.
  • Sharing designs among team members is slightly cumbersome, but once you figure it out, works well.
We use Canva in multiple aspects of our communications work and its become an invaluable tool for us to use. We share designs among team members and collaborate on projects within the software. Downloading our projects for use on social media, as a PDF, or in whatever format needed is easy in the software. Our designer can also go in and tighten up aspects of our work and move projects to the next phase faster.

I love using Canva for all design work. It's so user friendly - all the stock images, templates and features are fantastic value for money. I might be one of the biggest Canva fans on the planet!! Since I started using it, the new features that have been added are great. They stay on top of their market needs.
  • Great selection of templates for any type of design
  • Stock Image library on the pro version is fantastic value for money
  • I love the animations and effects you can use on text and images for presentations
  • Music library is also great for video!
  • I have never needed to contact support myself, but have heard they can improve on that
  • Honestly, I can't find anything which I feel they need to improve
Canva is well suited for someone who is not a qualified graphic designer, with a designer's eye and creative strength in visual communication. It is much cheaper than Adobe, Coral Draw, etc. A great alternative for someone who wants professional looking designs on their social media, etc.

Use it to design marketing materials
  • Design
  • Post to social media
  • Bad customer service
  • Technical bugs
In my experience, BAD CUSTOMER SUPPORT + TECHNICAL BUG - I had a problem with connecting Canva PRO account to Facebook and Instagram. I requested help from their customer service, AFTER trying to resolve this issue based on the documentation, which led to an UNEXPECTED error that couldn't be resolved on my end. After contacting the CS, they claim to respond in under 24 hours for PRO users, which has not happened, and only after I have started emailing them and posting on social media on the public view to make them notice my ticket, someone from CS finally emailed me. Do you want to know what they wrote? They wrote that I need to do what I have already done, and mentioned in my ticket, with a screenshot attached, showing that it has been done and that there is an "unexpected error". I responded to this ASAP and I received another guided solution, which had a few steps, one of them was to add a password to an existing account that is currently connected to my Facebook account, because apparently without adding a password you can't disconnect the Facebook account from the Canva account. I feel like that makes no sense, but ok... going forward...I tried to add a password to the account and guess what?! Another unexpected error occurred! Ok, so sh't happens, right? So I've emailed the CS with a SCREENSHOT showing I can't add a password to disconnect the account, and what did she reply to me? OK great now you can disconnect your social account and connect with the other Canva account, disregarding the fact that there is no way to add a password because of an "UNEXPECTED ERROR". Therefore, in my opinion, the CUSTOMER SUPPORT service is very dissatisfying, unprofessional, and I feel makes a very bad experience which makes me lose money because of this! I'm VERY SAD about this.

Canva allows you to create stunning posters, social media posts, flyers, and more directly in your browser. It's also so simple to operate that even a toddler could figure it out. We basically provide services and thus concentrate on content creation. All the content for Twitter, Instagram Reels, Posters, Facebook Post, etc are made in Canva. It's user-friendly and is less time-consuming. It's really useful while making Logos. An easy-to-use interface, a variety of free Canva stickers, components, and photographs, as well as gorgeous, completely customizable templates, has made our content creation easier and more customer satisfying. Videos can be easily created and customized and thus it is a really helpful tool for content creation.
  • Templates & Designs: Canva features over 8,000 free templates for over a hundred different design kinds (from social media posts to business cards.) The templates are elegantly designed. Canva Pro and Enterprise customers have access to an additional 100,000 designs as well as a variety of stock pictures, graphics, and videos. A Brand Kit option is included in both the Pro and Enterprise memberships, which lets you build and maintain a visual identity.
  • One-Click Image Resize: If you like a design but want to utilize it in a different format? The Magic Resize tool will help you achieve that. You may scale any design to meet the width and height you require with this premium-only feature.
  • Large varieties of Images Graphics: Canva has a large library of stock images, icons, and videos that can be used for content creation. It has affordable graphic design tools which one can use while making videos and ads.
  • Supports many Formats and Storage: Jpeg, gif, png, pdf, and SVG are all acceptable image formats. You may also submit videos in the following formats: MOV, gif, or MP4. Individual files and total uploads for both videos and photos are limited in size. Can customers with a free plan get up to 5GB of total upload capacity, but premium accounts get up to 100GB. Members of the Enterprise plan get limitless storage.
  • A lot of premium-only features: The image resizes tool is a premium feature. There is a limitation in storage for free signups. And a lot of images, stickers, and videos are pro.
  • Can't create Unique Elements: You can't conjure elements in Canva. These are pre-made designs and design enhancers like lines, frames, icons, shapes, and stickers that you may use in your works. You can only utilize the ones they provide. Colors and sizes can be changed, and they can be rotated and moved about, but that's about it.
  • Photo editing options are limited (Canva seems more design-focused): Canva includes picture editing capabilities, but it lacks the power of programs like Photoshop and can't do heavy-duty stuff.
  • There is a chance of repetition in the popular design templates since a lot of businesses use Canva.
Canva is well suited for 1)Content Creation- Canva's commercial usage of licensed material will assist content producers of all types, from bloggers who want to build their own banners to ebook writers who want to make their own book covers from scratch. 2)Marketing Tools- Canva's simple beginner-friendly style makes it easy for marketing teams with minimal graphic design skills (and limited outsourced budgets) to develop advertising and social media images. 3)Social media posts- Canva allows creating visuals for Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, and many more platforms. 5)Graphic designs- Without prior training or expertise, entrepreneurs and small company owners may handle their own graphic design (for a cheap price). 6)For making Short videos and Animations and Ad creation.

Our marketing department has built a branding my in Canva and created different user teams in our account. Departments like ours, admissions, and others such as Career Services, have their own team accounts. It allows us to remove a constant request for marketing to tackle small projects.
  • User interface is easy to learn.
  • The offering of templates with preset dimensions is great.
  • The Canva community has a Facebook group that is great for questions and feedback.
  • The mobile app is very clunky and has tended to misformat my designs when moving from device to device.
  • The customer service I received when asking about help with the mobile app was prompt but wasn't essentially helpful or beneficial. I received a professionally worded "It is what it is at the moment".
  • For a service that is geared toward social media as one of its main uses, I would expect them to use social media more often, in a variety of different ways, to exemplify its product [insta stories in particular], not just share articles and tutorials but really giving us an authentic glimpse of the people/team at Canva.
  • Webinars. Need webinars.
Social media management, any type of marketing, website management, etc. are all great ways to utilize Canva.

Quick one-off projects from a mobile device isn't great for using Canva.

Canva made my life super simple as a content creator and as a marketing team lead in general. After writing blogs for the company website, contributors do not have to wait for designers to create them some graphical content for their blogs. With teaching a few how-tos and taking through a couple of simple tutorials, the contributor now can design their own graphical content exactly the way they imagine. I also create quick social media posts and stories using Canva.
  • Creating blog creatives.
  • Creating social media contents.
  • Managing branding collaterals.
  • Working on designs collaboratively across the team or the organization.
  • They should introduce the concept of layers to give more freedom in designing.
  • They should add more elements in their directory.
  • They should improve the file organization system inside the dashboard.
Canva is well suited for:

1. Small teams.
2. Small business owners.
3. One person agency.
4. Growth hackers.

Canva is not well-suited for:

1. High-end graphical contents
2. Multi-layered complex graphical contents

The Marketing Industry understands the value of graphic design. It is both creative and complex at the same time. Create an appealing graphic design that attracts customers is now easier with Canva. Its user-friendly interface makes it easy to use even by those without any design experience. By having an abundance of available templates, the burden of the user is lessened. He can use the templates or get inspiration for new designs from these templates.
  • Ample of creative templates for Flyers, Posters & Banners.
  • Attractive and User friendly Interface.
  • Regular Updates and supports big Applications Like Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
  • Less Cloud Storage In Free plan atleast It should be of 10gb.
  • Animation and vector design is missing.
Canva's mobile compatibility is one of its best features. Our organization uses Canva to create creative ads to promote our client's products as well as our business services. While Canva is well suited to promote through static ads like banners, flyers, and posts, it falls short when it comes to vector design.

Our organisation use Canva to create exciting posters to upload in company social media accounts, pamphlets of the software products. Canva helped me to picturize my ideas into a beautiful image and i could share it with the team.
  • Provides attractive templates according to the user needs
  • A lot of options for Elements, images, text style to style your design for free
  • Able to export the work to PDF or image format in a single click
  • Nothing much to dislikes but It would be nice if canva was more user friendly in mobile web browser, as navigation is bit difficult while designing in mobile phones
Canva is well suited for people who have no or less idea about graphic designing. It makes the work easy and improves our designing skills. Though it is well suited for beginners and easy work, it is not very ideal for logo designing as the elements or pictures have a limit of scalability.

  • saving frequently so nothing gets lost
  • Some pretty basic fonts are missing from the database, which proves to be annoying when trying to stay on brand
  • Pre-grouping sections of templates can be a hassle to figure out
  • Creating your own template from scratch can have it's hiccups, but that could be my lack of design experience.
If you have a small team or a small budget, Canva is the wallet-friendly choice to keep everyone on brand and still have some beautiful designs to use. Everyone can see previous designs and make sure that only the Brand Colors and assets are used. The guidance for social posts to be professional and inviting is excellent. Even the free version of Canva is fantastic for small businesses or start ups. If you have a larger business with an actual design team then it may be too rudimentary for you.

I use our university's Canva account to design flyers and posters for various programs and events that our department is having. Canva is being used primarily by the media departments at the university. I believe it's being used by departments other than ours or Media, but I don't have first-hand knowledge of that. Using Canva for designs addresses the problem of keeping the approved university colors and fonts consistent across all flyers, brochures, newsletters, and other types of digital media created for the university and its programs and events. It really makes it so easy to create documents that will be approved because the correct fonts and colors are being used.
  • Provides readily accessible approved fonts and colors for our university publications.
  • A great selection of templates to select from.
  • Lots of resources for design, like photos, clip art, backgrounds, and other design elements.
  • The ability to share your design with others at the university.
  • The ability to download your design as a png, pdf, jpg, svg, even MP4 video or gif.
  • Easy to edit and alter the design and not lose what you had by creating clones of previous designs and then make the changes.
  • I have a hard time coming up with any improvements, perhaps increase the number of free elements to use in design.
  • Maybe, Canva should check if you start editing a previous document to see if you want to change the current design or create a new one as a clone of the current document (design).
  • I'm sorry, I really can't think of a 3rd. Overall, I really like working in Canva.
Canva is very well suited for designing a number of different publications, such as posters, flyers, brochures, newsletters, etc. It is an easy program to work with and doesn't take very long to become comfortable with the program. As far as scenarios that Canva is less useful, you have to use the elements, such as lines, frames, icons, shapes, and stickers, supplied by Canva. You can't create custom shapes on the fly. You could create a shape in something like PhotoShop and upload it, but you can't create them in Canva. Also, photo editing capabilities are limited in Canva and are best done using PhotoShop or similar digital editing program.

Canva is the best design tool out there, hands down. We use it across the design and marketing team to create beautiful visuals for our campaigns that can be easily edited by anyone on our team in no time. With Canva, you can say BYE to complicated photoshop tools like Adobe, especially when you need just a quick graphic for emails, social, or even presentation.
  • Offers plethora of beautiful templates to use
  • Very user-friendly, doesn't require any previous knowledge
  • Resizing is super-simple, as is creating designs from scratch
  • Organization of assets within Canva could be better
  • It would be awesome to connect its database of photos with database of icons, to make designing even easier
[Canva is] a great tool for smaller design projects, like social media graphics, email banners, cover photos, website images, ad images or banners, but would not be the best choice for designing something major like a website. The best feature of Canva is that once you have a template ready, anyone on the team can take it and adjust to whatever they're doing, without needing to wait on designers to step in. This is a huge time saver in our agency.

Canva is being used across the whole organization. Thanks to this software, non-creatives (colleagues outside the Design Team) can now share meaningful, innovative and interactive presentations... leaving behind plain and boring PowerPoint files. Canva gives the possibility to build amazing presentations without any hard work and time spending, just by choosing a template and minor editions you are all set.
  • Enhances visual communication.
  • Time efficiency.
  • Ease of use.
  • Shareability.
  • Online tool only.
  • UI design could be polished.
Canva is well suited for non-creatives who had been suffering to innovate and make their presentations/reports meaningful and clever-looking. Canva helps this users by providing simple tools and amazing templates in an interface that's easy to work/edit. Presentations/reports are refreshed, looking way more professional and updated... this can be performed in a short period of time without design skills.

I use Canva for all of my graphic needs for my business as well as for clients. I love how it not only has a flexible variety of options, images, and elements, but it makes me look professional while saving tons of expense! Canva even has the capabilities to edit videos and make them stand out beautifully.
  • Professional quality
  • Beautiful graphic images
  • Brand building for my company
  • Built-in features for every graphic need
  • Sometimes the background remover doesn't remove everything I hoped for, so it would be nice to be able to select image elements
I truly believe Canva is the perfect graphic tool for any industry and any graphic need. I have used and recommended it to fellow business owners, marketers for restaurants, personal clients in my own business, and friends and family. It's quite literally appropriate for marketing posts, motivational graphics, advertisements, powerpoint presentations, webinar slides, testimonial graphics, and anything you could think of needing graphics. I know of authors who have even used it for book cover design (though I suppose that's the one area I still recommend hiring a professional designer).

Our organization uses Canva as a graphic design software for flyers/invitations, across a couple of departments. It address the need of being able to design the document yourself with ease and not having to wait. The software has great tutorials and several templates which makes it easy to use.
  • The tutorials are easy to understand and provides live examples to apply what you have just learned.
  • There are several templates and colors to chose from.
  • These are strengths for those of us that do not have any design experience. It makes it easy and joyful to design and keep designing.
  • I do wish it had some more folder options on the free subscription to better organize created documents.
Canva is well suited for flyers, invitations, save the date, and documents. We have created several documents we provide for volunteers and staff use. The templates are well suited as they offer different sizes, colors, fonts, and clip art. It is also nice that you are able to add your own clip art and create business stationary. For my organization the info graphic templates are not suited for my organization but I can see where they would be suited for others.

Canva (professional, single, team leader license) is used by me personally for work in my department at the University. I do know of others who use the software in other departments, however, the University of Connecticut does not currently have an Enterprise license. At the university, I use Canva to design educational, marketing and other support materials for the classroom (both online and in-person). Additionally, as a freelancer I use Canva almost everyday to do mock-ups, presentations, logo designs, letterheads and resume templates. The company for which I do the most work, has individuals that also use Canva but they are currently using the free version. I find that Canva is an essential component to my own business as an instructional designer, tutor and content developer: the software is not used to "address problems" so much as it is now a "key component" in my arsenal of SaaS products to create stunning visual materials. In fact, Canva was my go-to when I was tasked with creating a presentation in three hours time. The presentation was an hour-long, company-wide in-service. The presentation/webinar was broadcasted/recorded through the company platform with viewers from over 20 countries.
  • Canva exports in a wide variety of software extensions in exceptionally high quality images. The pro license even allows .svg and background-less exports.
  • Canva's pro license has a terrific set of available fonts that are easily matched or are exact matches to other web fonts. Basically, in a word, Canva gives its (pro) customers an easy-to-use and cross-compatible set of design options. Everything is customizable.
  • For me, Canva shines in its usability. There are variety of preset, pre-sized canvases. As a designer, marketer, presenter, educational technologist or even if you are just getting started, Canva has its UI and UX geared toward each level of user.
  • Canva's strengths are with its original features and the fact that even the most novice user can produce a professional looking design in little time.
  • Canva has recently introduced online presentations and website options, both of which could stand for improvements. To elaborate: the presentation/video templates and interfaces are slightly more difficult to navigate.
  • Again, Canva's newest user options attempt to make "going to the web" easier. Unfortunately, even the most rudimentary export struggles to display. It would seem that there are no auto-scale/different display modes built into the scripts in the software. I managed to find a way to cut out the code not only for the very bothersome logo and then re-size the display output; however, I don't fancy that every Canva user will either a) want to take the time to do this; or, b) have enough coding experience to make it work for them.
  • Again, Canva has recently introduced some potentially great features, namely the website and online presentation (native to the software) templates. Sadly, these two features fail in their intended executions. Perhaps I am too much of an advanced user and maybe novice users will find these features more user-friendly. The issues are two-fold: even with the pro license, the URL and presentation mode display with a huge Canva logo in the corner. As an advanced user, I was able to resize the presentation and find the code for the 'Canva' logo and snip it out. However, I doubt that what I imagine is a large portion of the Canva market share (i.e. plug and play novice users) will be able to make such adjustments.
In a word, Canva is awesome! Other than the negatives that I enumerated on the 'improvements' page, there would be very few changes that I would make to the user interface. Here are some scenarios where Canva shines: the myriad export options available and quick export functions. Canva offers downloads of your designs in several formats including .png, .jpeg, .pdf and many other commonly used file extensions. The variety lends itself well to users that are in need of a sharp looking design, made easily and lightning fast and then shareable through ubiquitous user file extensions. Another area where Canva is an industry leader: the multiple templates that are labeled with 'real-world' generic terms that are easily understood by the public writ large. Alongside of the pre-made 'decks' for early career marketing or social media workers is a great variety of other pre-made elements that you can insert onto any canvas in Canva. Where Canva would be less appropriate and/or less suitable is for strict admin work that could easily be completed in another software suite such as Microsoft 365.
